Education is the process by which an individual is encouraged and enabled to fully develop his or her potential; it may also serve the purpose of equipping the individual with what is necessary to be a productive member of society. Through teaching and learning the individual acquires and develops knowledge and skills. The term education is often used to refer to formal education. However, the word's broader meaning covers a range of experiences, from formal learning to the building of understanding and knowledge through day to day experiences. Ultimately, all that we experience serves as a form of education. All colleges and universities aim to impart quality education for all aspirants. Rajasthan Agricultural University concisely aims to impart and promote agricultural knowledge to Modern Indian students.

In the imperial Gazetteer of India 1878, Pusa was recorded as a government estate of about 1350 acres in Darbhanbge. It was acquired by East India Company for running a stud farm to supply better breed of horses mainly for the army. Frequent incidence of glanders disease (swelling of glands), mostly affecting the valuable imported bloodstock made the civil veterinary department to shift the entire stock out of Pusa. A British tobacco concern Beg Sutherland & co. got the estate on lease but it also left in 1897 abandoning the government estate of Pusa.

Agriculture sector in Jammu and Kashmir State comprising agriculture, horticulture, forests, sericulture, fisheries, animal husbandry and allied fields is pivotal in the development of its economy. The sector constitutes the main source of livelihood for nearly 80 per cent of the population and contributes more than 50 per cent to Net Domestic Product. The agro-eco-environment of the State, especially in the provinces of Kashmir and Ladakh, is entirely different from rest of the country. In view of the complex problems, born out of natural factors facing the agricultural development of the State, the need for establishing a sound agricultural research and education system was felt since long and several patterns were considered since 1970’s. Finally the State Govt. decided to set up an Agricultural University and Technology Act which was passed by Legislative Assembly of the State in March, 1982 that came into force from August, 1982

Tamilnadu Agricultural University is a leading agrotechnology provider of India and its graduates are recognized throughout the world. Though the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) came into being on June 1, 1971, it had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India as early as 1868 which was later relocated at Coimbatore during 1906. The University is offering Twelve Undergraduate Degree Programs and Twenty nine Postgraduate Degree Programs in 10 Colleges distributed in seven campuses all over Tamil Nadu. Besides, the university has 34 Research Stations for agrotechnology development.

The institute attained the status of a college in the year 1903 (01.10.1903), when it started functioning at Dobbin Hall, Chennai and admitted 20 students for a three-year diploma course called GMVC (Graduate of Madras Veterinary College).

The institute attained the status of a college in the year 1903 (01.10.1903), when it started functioning at Dobbin Hall, Chennai and admitted 20 students for a three-year diploma course called GMVC (Graduate of Madras Veterinary College). Based on the recommendation of the Royal Commission on Agriculture, the college was upgraded to impart degree in veterinary science. Although the college was the fourth veterinary institution to be started in India, it was first veterinary college in the country to be affiliated to a university, the University of Madras in 1935 and the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.) degree course was started in 1936. The University of Madras also recognized the college as a centre for postgraduate education. In 1969, the college was made as the Directorate of Veterinary Education and Research. The college was then academically affiliated to Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in 1974 and became a constituent unit of TNAU in 1976. To meet the demand of veterinary education and research, a second veterinary college was started in Namakkal in the year 1985.
